Locomotion wrote really good poetry. It’s not that I didn’t like it but it was kind of strange that someone named their son “Locomotion.” One thing about the book was that I couldn’t tell what color the characters’ skin was. I would recommend this book, it’s not really for really young children though.

Peace Locomotion by Jacqueline Woodson
After their parents died in a fire, Locomotion and Lili got separated into different homes with foster parents. Locomotion’s step brother was drafted and went to war. This book is letters from brother to sister in the hopes that someday, when they are together again, Lili will be able to read them. Locomotion is also a poet.
The Graham Cracker Plot by Shelly Tougas
Starring Graham, Daisy, Judge Henry, and Ashley; Daisy’s dad, the Chemist, was put in jail and Daisy wanted to set him free so her half-friend, Graham Cracker, came up with a plan to rescue him, she helped.
I liked when they were hiding in the shower and a dude went to the bathroom and they watched him peeing (I laughed my head off at that part) It was sad that-spoiler alert spoiler alert spoiler alert spoiler alert!!! It wasn’t what I expected. I thought it was about a kid who wanted to be a pilot. (I thought it said “Graham Cracker Pilot” instead of “the Graham Cracker Plot”) I would recommend this book (the bathroom thing was the only potty humor thing)

Diary of a Farting Pikachu by Red Smith
In the world of Pokémon: Pikachu can’t control their farts (Pikachu was not given a gender). Not only are they gross, but they’re really embarrassing. Even though they help in battles, they are stinky. They showed up after a period in time where all they could afford to eat were beans, Pikachu does like beans…
I loved all of the fart jokes (there were a lot of fart jokes) the whole book was great there was one part I really liked (if I told you, it would be a spoiler). This book really proves the song: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=PPqXI69a3MY (Pokémon masters are broke)
WARNING: this book is not for people who hate fart jokes.

Love Penelope by Joanne Rocklin and Lucy Knisley
In this book about Penelope, You (Mary Joy), Sammy, Hazel Pepper, “Mama,” Uncle Ziggy, Grandma Lorraine, Great-Grandma Grace, Nell, Rick, etc., Penelope is a soon-to-be big sister who knows about the world. Love Penelope is Penelope’s letters to “you” (Mary Joy) about how life is with two mothers.
It was a really heartwarming story about life in a different family from ours. Just a fair warning (not a spoiler), it gets really sad near the end and than it gets happy. Love Penelope is a great story and I think that there should be a sequel written by Penelope’s sister. I would recommend this book. It is a fun read and it is a great family read-aloud.
43 Old Cemetery Road: Dying to Meet You by Kate Klise and M. Sarah Klise
This story has many characters: Ignatius B. Grumpy, Olive, A. sale, Paige Turner, Seymour Hope, Shadow, E. Gadds, professor Les and Diane Hope, and Frank N. Beans. Ignatius B. Grumply is the author of a children's series about a detective. He goes looking for a house to stay in for the summer to write his next book and finds a house on 43 old cemetery road. The contract that he signs for the house states that he must take care of a boy and his cat and return them to the parents in good healthy condition if they ever ask. At first he wants to leave the house but then he meets Olive. A ghost who wrote books that never got published.
I liked that the main character's name was “I be grumpy”. The letters were short and it was easy to read and it was funny and I now have read books 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. I would recommend this book mostly for people who are just starting to read epistolary novels.
This kitten is really funny.
