Diary of a Farting Pikachu by Red Smith

Image result for diary of a farting pikachuIn the world of Pokémon: Pikachu can’t control their farts (Pikachu was not given a gender). Not only are they gross, but they’re really embarrassing. Even though they help in battles, they are stinky. They showed up after a period in time where all they could afford to eat were beans, Pikachu does like beans…

I loved all of the fart jokes (there were a lot of fart jokes) the whole book was great there was one part I really liked (if I told you, it would be a spoiler). This book really proves the song: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=PPqXI69a3MY (Pokémon masters are broke)
WARNING: this book is not for people who hate fart jokes.

This is my Pokémon:

Love Penelope by Joanne Rocklin and Lucy Knisley

Image result for love penelopeIn this book about Penelope, You (Mary Joy), Sammy, Hazel Pepper, “Mama,” Uncle Ziggy, Grandma Lorraine, Great-Grandma Grace, Nell, Rick, etc., Penelope is a soon-to-be big sister who knows about the world. Love Penelope is Penelope’s letters to “you” (Mary Joy) about how life is with two mothers.

It was a really heartwarming story about life in a different family from ours. Just a fair warning (not a spoiler), it gets really sad near the end and than it gets happy. Love Penelope is a great story and I think that there should be a sequel written by Penelope’s sister. I would recommend this book. It is a fun read and it is a great family read-aloud.

43 Old Cemetery Road: Dying to Meet You by Kate Klise and M. Sarah Klise

Image result for 43 cemetery road dying to meet youThis story has many characters: Ignatius B. Grumpy, Olive, A. sale, Paige Turner, Seymour Hope, Shadow, E. Gadds, professor Les and Diane Hope, and Frank N. Beans. Ignatius B. Grumply is the author of a children's series about a detective. He goes looking for a house to stay in for the summer to write his next book and finds a house on 43 old cemetery road. The contract that he signs for the house states that he must take care of a boy and his cat and return them to the parents in good healthy condition if they ever ask. At first he wants to leave the house but then he meets Olive. A ghost who wrote books that never got published.

I liked that the main character's name was “I be grumpy”. The letters were short and it was easy to read and it was funny and I now have read books 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. I would recommend this book mostly for people who are just starting to read epistolary novels.

This kitten is really funny.

chickens when she got a package with these strange instructions.
Later on she was shipped six eggs that sh h to raise herself. Raising chicks is tough.

It’s a really funny book and i think that the chickens are really funny and it is really entertaining.
I liked the way the author wrote the whole book in letters and I liked the swimming chicks.

Property Of The Rebel Librarian by Allison Varnes

Image result for property of the rebel librarianThis is a story about June Harper, Her parents, the school board, Ms. Bradshaw, Mr. Beeler, and The teachers. June Harper’s parents caught her reading “The Makings of a Witch”, and they thought that books like that were too inappropriate for 7th graders. They took all of her books away, and then they went on to her school.

It was an exciting book, although it took a while to get interesting. I for some reason liked all of the drama and I liked when they stood up to the teachers in the end and I liked the speech that June gave. When we were reading it, it felt kind of long. (Especially since I could have been reading comics or something like that).

By the way…  Don’t let the kitten out of the bag

Lumberjanes: Jackelope Springs Eternal by Shannon Waters

Image result for lumberjanes jackalope springs eternal

This is a story in the series Lumberjanes, about Mal, Ripley, April, Jo, Molly, (the Roanokes) Jen (the counselor), and Emmy. The Roanokes are scared of “The Voice”. That wanted to terrorize their camp and used some of them to do so, so their counselor gets them to start hunting for a Jackalope But instead, they find a cowgirl with the oddest herd ever and a lonely tornado.

It was a funny book with some diversity... it was really fun to read about all of the sweet little (giant) animals with odd stories. I really liked when Diane said “I refuse to use my unfathomable goddess powers on a stupid branch.” I didn’t really like that it was hard to understand the storyline since I didn’t read the book that came before it (oops on me). I would recommend this book because it is a funny book, but not until you read the ones that came before it.

Speaking of mythical creatures... look at this ferocious kitten!

The Nameless City by Faith Erin Hicks

This story is about The Dao, who are soldiers who took over the Nameless City. They want to have sole control of the city, so are protecting their ownership of the city. Kai is a Dao soldier and Rat is an orphaned girl - Dao soldiers killed her parents. Kai and Rat meet and learn to trust each other, and work together to save the leader of the Dao from assassins.

I first picked this book because I was bored and the cover looked really interesting. When I started reading it, it was so good that I couldn’t put it down (even when the teacher told me to). I really liked the overall book and the way the main characters learned to trust each other. I would recommend this book because its plot makes me want to keep reading. I can't wait to read the second and third books.
